Sync Log Status - Correcting Errors and Updates Available Alerts

If you discover that your Schoology Sync Log has Failed or Updates Available Errors, there are some steps to take in order to have a successful sync. Please follow these directions:

1. Go into the Schoology Gradebook.

2. Click on the Sync Log (clipboard icon) in the top right-hand side.

    


3. Click the Grading Periods drop-down menu and select the current grading period and then you can filter by Status. Sync Log filtering information can be located at the bottom of this article.

4. Correct any errors by following the guidelines below. 

Failed: Failed errors are usually due to a missing Category or Due Date. If any errors are displayed, hover over Review Error to see what to correct and then sync that assignment once fixed. If an error appears and is unexplained, such as “Unable to sync all grades. Some grades were successfully synced.” or “Unable to sync, please try resyncing”, delete the assignment from the Assignment List in PowerTeacher Pro and then resync the assignment from the Schoology Sync Log.  If the message states that the assignment is locked, this is because it is associated with a past Grading Period that is locked in PowerTeacher Pro. You can use the Bulk Edit screen to quickly correct these errors. Updates Available: If the Updates Available message is visible, this indicates that the assignment has not yet synced, changes were made to the assignment, or the assignment grades have been updated. These will sync upon the next Scheduled Sync, or you can manually sync them using the Sync All Changes button or clicking Sync next to each assignment with this message.

Opted Out: If you have an assignment in your Schoology Gradebook, but unchecked Sync to SIS then it will not sync the grades to PowerTeacher Pro and it will display as Opted Out in your Sync Log. You will not be able to sync the assignment unless you edit it, recheck Sync to SIS, and then sync it to PowerTeacher Pro.

Sort by Assignment, Due Date, and Last Successful Sync:
Click on the words Assignment, Due Date, and Last Successful Sync to sort the list of assignments in the Sync Log. It is recommended that teachers filter their assignments by Grading Period and Status prior to sorting the assignment list. This sorting can be changed to be ascending or descending alphabetically/chronologically. To change the order, click on the AssignmentDue Date, or Last Successful Sync button a second time.
