Sync Log Status: Correcting Errors and Updates Available Alerts

What to Do When Your Schoology Sync Log Has Errors and Updates Available Alerts

If you discover that your Schoology Sync Log Has Errors or Alerts stating, "Updates Available", there are some steps to take in order to have a successful sync. Please follow these directions:
1. Go into the Schoology Gradebook.
2. Click on the Sync Log (clipboard icon in the top right).
    
3. Click the Grading Periods drop-down menu and select the current grading period and then you can filter by Status. Sync Log filtering information can be located at the bottom of this article.
4. Updates Available: If you have an Updates Available Status, this means either the assignment has not been synced to PowerTeacher Pro yet or something has changed regarding the assignment set up or with student grades, and these changes have not yet been synced. To sync the assignment or the changes, click Sync All Changes at the top of the Sync Log, or click the Sync button next to the assignments that need to be synced.
Please Note: The Sync All Changes does have some inconsistencies, therefore, syncing assignments individually has been more reliable.
Error Messages: If any errors are displayed, click on Review Error to see what to correct and then sync that assignment once the error has been corrected. Usually, errors are due to missing categories. You can use the Bulk Edit screen to quickly correct these errors. If it displays the message, “Unable to sync all grades. Some grades were successfully synced.” or “Unable to sync, please try resyncing”, delete the assignment from the Assignment List in PowerTeacher Pro and then resync the assignment from the Schoology Sync Log.

To make using the Sync Log easier, Schoology has new filtering options available including filtering by:

  • Grading Period
  • Status

And sorting by:

  • Assignment Title
  • Due Date
  • Last Successful Sync
