Using Microsoft Teams in Schoology (Unlinked Courses or Meetings that Combine Students Across Sections)

SAU #19 Schoology users with Microsoft 365 accounts can create Microsoft Teams meetings from within a Schoology Course to create a meeting to host a virtual class. To create a meeting link, please follow these directions if you are teaching have unlinked Courses or need to meet with multiple sections of your Courses at the same time:

Create a Microsoft Teams Meeting from the Left Side Bar of a Schoology Course

1. Click Microsoft Education from the left side bar from your Schoology Course.

2. If this is the first time you are using Microsoft Education from your Schoology Course, you will need to sign into your Microsoft account. Click Sign in. Sign in using your Microsoft 365 log in (this log in should automatically be entered as soon as you click Sign in). It will then set up your Microsoft Education connection with this Section of your Schoology Course.

3. Click Meetings.

4. Click New Meeting.

5. Add a title for your meeting (you can add the period number to help keep meeting links clearly labeled). Be sure that that Keep class in sync is turned off.

6. Adjust the date and time of the meeting and add any relevant information into the description. Then click Save.

Your meeting will now be visible under the Upcoming tab.

7. Since you need multiple sections of students to use the same meeting link, you will need to copy the link, and paste is as a link into all Sections of your Schoology Course. Click the 3 dots next to Join and Chat and select Copy join link from the drop-down menu.
Please Note: Students in all sections will not be able to access the meeting link from the Microsoft Education button. They will need to use the link you paste. You will also not receive the analytics for each section of your Course listed in the Microsoft Education Meetings area.

To join a Team meeting:

1. Click on the Teams Meeting link from the Schoology Course.

2. You can choose to access the meeting from the Microsoft Teams desktop app or via web browser. If you have the desktop app, click the Open Microsoft Teams prompt. Alternatively, click Continue on this browser instead to join the meeting in a separate tab in your browser.

Please Note: If you are using a mobile device, you will need to download the Microsoft Teams app in advance to use the app option.

3. Adjust your camera and microphone settings and then click Join now.

4. You may be prompted to allow access to your microphone and camera. Click Allow.

5. Set any video and audio option preferences and click Join now to enter the meeting.

End a Microsoft Teams Meeting

1. Click the drop-down menu next to the word Leave in the upper right-hand corner.

2. Click on End meeting. This is an important step to ensure the class meeting is fully ended. If you only press Leave then you will leave the meeting, but the meeting will remain active for students.
