Customizing Assignments in Linked Sections, Showing Correctly in Schoology, but Creating Blank Grade Columns to the Unassigned Sections in PowerTeacher Pro:
If your Sections are linked in Schoology, you can customize the Due Date for the assignments by Section, as well as choose whether the materials for that assignment are Published to each Section, however, we have learned some important information from the Schoology engineers regarding Unpublishing assignments for specific Sections and its behavior when syncing to PowerTeacher Pro. If you choose to leave an assignment for a Section Unpublished, it will not appear in your Schoology Gradebook for that Section; however, it will sync a blank column to your PowerTeacher Pro Gradebook. This is intended behavior, according to the development team.
The work around for this, is to either leave the blank column in PTP and delete it at the very end of the grading period, or you can Publish the assignment to all Sections. Then mark the assignment with the Exempt Exception Flag for all students within the Section not completing the assignment.
Google/OneDrive Assignments Will Not Copy from Course to Course:
Since Google and OneDrive Assignments are considered a third party App, they do not function as smoothly as many of the other features in Schoology. Google and OneDrive links and other materials will copy if embedded, however, when working with the assignment features, they will not. Please consider using Annotations Assignments when possible, since this will copy smoothly from Course to Course. Kaltura Videos Not Loading:
After embedding a video into a Course you may notice that it tries to load but then gives you the infinite loading wheel. This is a known browser issue that Chromium-based browsers have when playing embedded YouTube videos in other sites. We have added a text overlay to the video to assist with how to correct this.
For videos to play when unmuted:
1. Click X to remove the text overlay about Audio on YouTube videos.
2. Pause the video.
3. Unmute the video.
4. DO NOT click the play button, instead click anywhere on the video itself to play with sound.
Or play the video directly in Kaltura MediaSpace by following these instructions:
1. Log into Kaltura MediaSpace by logging into your Microsoft 365, scrolling down to the Get Work Done section, click on the SAU19 Resources tab, and clicking on Kaltura MediaSpace.
2. Once in Kaltura MediaSpace, click on your name in the upper right-hand corner. Then select My Media.
4. Find the video you want to display and play your video from there.
