If an educator leaves the district, their share Collections will not remain in Schoology. To avoid losing any resources you may have received from another educator, instructors should save a copy of the shared Collection to their personal Resources. This should be done prior to the end of the school year. To do this, please follow these directions.
1. Go into the Shared Collection by clicking on the Resources tab in the top navigation menu and click on the collection, found under Shared by Others.
2. Click on the gear icon next to a resource or folder in that shared Collection and select Copy to.
3. The default for Collection will be Home, which is your personal Resource area. If you have created Collections, you can click the drop-down arrow next to Collection and select the Collection you want to save the resources into.
If you are saving the materials into your personal Resources and have created folders to organize this are, click on the Folder drop-down menu to select a specific folder to save the content into. If you do not wish to save it into a specific folder or have not created folders, then leave the Folder option as (No Folder). Then click on Copy.
You have now created a copy of the shared resource that you own.
5. Repeat this for every Resource or Resource Folder you wish to copy from the shared Collection.
Please Note: If the resources you are copying have Google or OneDrive documents that belong to the teacher leaving the district, then you will lose access to these. Click into these files and create a copy of each of them for yourself. You will now become the owner of the copy.
