On SAU #19 Windows laptops, it is possible to save any number of Xerox printer settings into a Preset, making it easy to switch between commonly used groups of printer settings. For example, if you often need double-sided, stapled packets with a 3-hole punch, you can save those settings as a Preset to easily choose those specific settings with a single click. Following these directions to set up and use Xerox Presets:
Set Up as Preset
1. In the search bar on the taskbar, search for Printers & Scanners.
2. In Printers & Scanners, click on the printer for which you want to create a Preset.
3. Click Printing preferences.
4. In the Printing Preferences dialog box, update the settings to your desired settings. There are many options available on multiple different tabs, so go through each option carefully until you are satisfied.
5. Once
the desired settings are selected, click the Save button at the bottom of the window.
You will have two options, Save as 1-Touch or Save as New Preset. Both options will save the settings; the difference is how you select the Preset when you go to print a document. It is recommended choosing the 1-Touch option. In either case, you must give the Preset a name. Try to be as descriptive as possible to make it easier for you to select the right Preset when you go to print.
Your settings have been saved.
Choosing a Preset When Printing
When you go to print a document, you will likely not see any place to choose your Preset right away. That's because it is a Xerox Preset that's been saved via Windows printing preferences, so the application you are printing from (e.g., Word, Firefox, Edge, Adobe) doesn't know it exists. Only your laptop does; therefore, when the print dialog box open, you will need to switch over to the Windows print dialog window. Follow these instructions for a few of the most common applications:
Microsoft Word
Click Printer Properties underneath the printer selection drop-down.
Firefox and Microsoft Edge
Click Print using the system dialog at the very bottom of the window. Then click Preferences in the new window that opens up.
2. Now
that you've opened the Xerox printer properties, the way you select your Preset
will depend on how you saved it.
If you saved it as a 1-Touch, there will be a tile with the Preset name in the 1-Touch tab (usually shown by default). Click the tile to update the print job settings.
If you saved it as a New Preset, click the Printing Options tab. At the bottom, there is a Presets drop-down menu. Select your preset and then click OK to update the print job settings.
3. Now click Print and the job should run with the settings defined by your Preset.
