How to Zip and Encrypt Files Within a Folder

Working with Encrypted Zip Files

Educators can compress and encrypt a whole folder of files. In order to do this, you must first download the 7-Zip app from the FileWave Kiosk. Once you have the 7-Zip app, please follow these directions:

Zipping and Encrypting Files in a Folder

1. Locate the folder of files on your device that you would like to compress and encrypt.

2. Right-click on the folder and click Show more options.

3. Select 7-Zip and then click Add to archive.

4. Change the Archive format to zip using the drop-down arrow.

5. Under Encryption, enter a password and reenter the password in the line below. Then click OK.

You will see a duplicate folder that has been zipped and encrypted. This is the folder you will want to use when sharing with others.

Users will be open to open the folder and see the titles of the files included however, they will not be able to open any files without entering the password.

Opening a Folder that is Encrypted
