SAU #19 teachers at Bartlett Elementary School, Maple Avenue Elementary School, and New Boston Central School with a subscription to Scholastic News will need to access Scholastic through the left side bar of their Schoology Course. Logging in through the Scholastic News website will create duplicate accounts with duplicate subscriptions and eventually lock teachers out of their accounts.
Please Note: This method is used if you want to allow students to explore the magazines on their own. You can also attach a direct link to a Scholastic News Material. To do that, please follow the directions outline within this link: SAU19 Knowledge Base - Adding a Direct Scholastic Magazine Material Link to a Schoology Course.
To utilize your Scholastic Magazine online materials through Schoology, please follow these directions:
1. Log into Schoology (https://sau19.schoology.com) and click on the Scholastic Digital Manager button in the left side bar.
2. When prompted, enter grade level and product access code provided by Scholastic. If you do not know your access code, please email your technology integration specialist.
3. If you need to add an additional Scholastic product access code, click on the + Add New Program button and then enter the product code for the additional product.
Teachers can now utilize the online materials.
Please Note: If you have multiple Courses that use the Scholastic Magazines, you will need to repeat this process for each Course.
Students will need to click on Scholastic Digital Manager from the left side bar to create their accounts from within the Course with the active subscription. Accounts will automatically create and no access code for students is needed. Once accounts are created, students can access Scholastic materials.
Teachers can also assign Scholastic materials directly to students by searching for materials in Scholastic. When a resource is opened, teachers will be able to select share, copy the open link (not the locked), and paste that link into a Schoology assignment. Please Note: Students must first click on Scholastic from the left side bar to authenticate their accounts (must be done weekly) and then they can click on the activity link to take students directly to the material you want them to complete.
