How to Link to Course Materials in an Update

Educators can now easily link to their Course materials when creating a Course Update for students and families. This inline link will allow students and families to click on the link in the Schoology notification, daily digest, or email, and go directly to that Course material that is linked. This feature is good for direct links to items such as:
*Agendas
*Newsletters
*Spelling Lists
*Directions for accessing curriculum content
*Grading information or a course syllabus

To Create a Link to Course Materials in One Course

To create an in-line link in a Course update, please follow these directions:
1. Log into your Schoology account and click into one of your Courses.
2. Click on 'Updates' from the left side bar.
3. In the Update 'Rich Text Editor' (area where you can type an Update), click on the 'Inline Link' icon from the top menu.
4. Click on 'Course Materials'.
5. Select which folder your Course material is in and select the specific resource you want to link to.
   
6. Click 'Select'.
7. Once the material is attached, check the box next to 'Open link in new tab', enter the text you want to display (be sure to include a statement such as, "Click here to view the ...."), and then click 'Save changes'.
The resource will now be added into the Update rich text editor.
8. Click on the word bubble next to 'Post' and check the 'bell' icon to make this post an announcement that shows up on the Course page (Secondary view only) and ensure that the 'person' is checked off to also send the Update to the parents' notifications. Then click 'Post'.
Your Update will now show in the Updates section of the Schoology Course, at the top of the Course page (Secondary view only), in the recent activity section of student and parent accounts, in student notifications and in the parent daily digest emails.
When students and parents click on the link in the Update, it will automatically bring them to that resource without having to click through the folders within the Schoology Course to find it.

To Create a Link to Course Materials in Multiple Courses at Once

Educators can post an Update to multiple Courses at once, however, they will not be able to choose to make the Update available as an Announcement or viewable in the parent account.

To create an in-line link in an update to multiple Courses at once, please follow these directions:
1. Log into your Schoology account and click on the 'Recent Activity' tab. If you do not see the 'Recent Activity' tab, click the SAU 19 logo at the top left-hand side of the navigation menu and then you should see this tab.
2. Click on 'Update' from the menu next to 'Post'.
3. Follow the directions 3-7 above to create an inline link to a resource.
4. In the 'Post to...' text field, start typing the name of one of your classes.
5.  When your Course auto populates in a drop-down menu, select it. Repeat this for all Courses you want to add the Update to.
6. Click 'Post'. 
Your Update will now post to the Updates section of all the Courses you selected.
