Parent Accounts - Daily Digest Emails and Notification Settings

In your Schoology parent account, you have the ability to change your notification settings. Parent account notification settings are separate from the daily parent digest emails for your student accounts. You will only receive parent digest emails if the teacher has created an Update, and Event, or your child has child has submitted an assignment or added to a class discussion. Please follow these steps to change your notification settings.

*If you did you not verify your email address, you will need to do this step to receive these daily digest and notification emails. You can click your profile name/image, make sure your name is selected, choose 'Settings' from the drop-down menu, and then select 'Resend verification email'. Now go to your email and click the link to verify your account.


To change your notification settings:

1. Please sign into your parent account.

2. Once in the account, click the drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner. Be sure your name is checked. If not, click on your name and then come back to this profile menu. Click ‘Settings’ from the drop-down menu. 

3. Click on the ‘Notifications’ tab and select your notification preferences. I recommend keeping on the setting 'Course comments on updates, assignments, or discussions' and 'Receive a private message'.


4. Press 'Save Changes'.

To change daily parent digest settings for each child's courses:

1. Please sign into your parent account.

2. Once in the account, click the drop down menu in the upper right-hand corner and click on your child’s name.

3. Once you are viewing as your child, then click that drop down again, and select ‘Settings’. When you select ‘Settings’ from your child’s account, you will get different options.

4. Click on the ‘Notifications’ tab.

5. Now you can change you parent digest email preferences.

6. If you want to be sure to receive email notifications regarding overdue assignments for your child, please click the drop-down arrow under the 'Overdue Submission Email' section next to 'Email Notification' and select 'On'. Then click 'Save'.

7. If you have multiple children in the district, you will need to complete these same steps for each of them.


***If you are not seeing updates in your daily digest, try changing the time you receive the updates. This seems to correct it.

To view the updates from the parent digest:

When you log into your parent account, the default screen should show the recent student activity. If it does not, click on the 'Student Activity' tab. This is where you can view any updates the teacher has posted, and upcoming events, any assignments to do to overdue, and any recently completed items. To navigate back to this screen, click on the SAU 19 icon in the upper left-hand corner. If you want to view the student's Courses, click on the 'Enrollments' tab.
