Submitting Google Drive Assignments

Student View

The student view of the Google Submission Assignment displays the Assignment and My Document tabs.

Note:

If the student view is not displaying, ensure that third-party cookies are not being blocked on the devices and/or browsers used to access Google Drive assignments. If the Google account is not linked it will provide an error message. Please click this link to follow the directions on linking accounts: SAU19 Knowledge Base - Google - Linking Student Accounts in Schoology.

  • The Assignment tab displays the Assignment Description, including the due date. If you're using a rubric to grade the assignment, it also displays in this tab.
  • Students must click the My Document tab to generate their copies of your Google Drive file.

Submitting Assignments

Once an assignment is complete, click Submit Assignment at the top of the document to submit. Click Yes, submit and then Done on the Successful launch screen.

Students may no longer edit the Google file after submitting the assignment. Instead, any edits a student makes after submitting the assignment are added as "suggestions" to the Google file. Teachers can review the suggestions to approve or deny the edits that were suggested after submitting the assignment.

However, students may click Unsubmit at any time before the due date, and before the work has been graded.

Seeing Assignment Grades and Comments

Once assignments have been graded, students can go into the assignment and view the grade, gradebook comments, and any other comments or suggestions made using the native Google features.

To view grades and gradebook comments shared with them, click on the assignment and then click on the grade in the right-hand corner. If it is an ungraded assignment, no grade will appear here. When you click on the grade, a box new window will open and if the teacher made any gradebook comments, they will appear here.

If the teacher made any comments or suggestions on the document submission itself, click on the document and they will be visible on the right-hand side.
