Google Takeout Directions
There are two methods of taking files out of your Google Drive. Please follow the directions below to either transfer data to a personal Google account or to export data onto your personal device.
How to Transfer Data to Another Google Account
User accounts are normally deactivated within 15-days of leaving the district. This could be transferring to a new school, or graduating from GHS. Students wishing to move their files from their school Google account to a personal one should follow these steps:
1. Sign in to your school Google account and go to takeout.google.com/transfer.
2. Enter the email address of the destination Google account – this is where your files will by copied and saved to.
3. Click “Send Code” .
4. Open the email sent and click "Get confirmation code". This will be send a code to your personal account. NOTE: This code is only active for 24 hours.
5. Go to your personal email & copy the verification code to paste into the Takeout Menu.
6. From your school account, return to takeout.google.com/transfer and paste in the verification code, then choose “Verify”.
7. Choose the content you want to copy. Click “Start Transfer” to initiate. This process can take up to a week, but you will receive an email notification in your personal account once it’s complete.

How to Download Data from Google Drive

2) If you are prompted to log in, log in using your school account (@sau19.org).
3) Under the “Create a New Export” section, click “Deselect all”.
4) Scroll down until you see Google Drive and select that box. If you wish to select which items you want to download, click on the “All Drive data included” button and then select which items/folders you wish to download and then press “OK”.
5) Scroll down to the bottom of that page and click the “Next Step” button (this may take a moment to appear, or you can click into the “Choose file type, frequency & destination” section to force it to appear).
6) Under “Delivery Method” it will automatically default to the settings of sending an email link when done and exporting once as a Zip file. If these settings are not selected, you can change them.
7) Click the “Create Export” button.
*Note, the download process can vary in time from a few hours to a week, depending on the size of the data on your account. Copied files may appear as batched on your Google Account during the copying process. You do not need to leave the Google Takeout window open, or your computer open. Once it is complete, you will be notified via email. You can also check to see if the process is complete by going to: Google Takeout.
If the export is complete, you will see:
Click, “Download” to save the zip files of your content onto your device.
If it is not complete, it will state “Export in progress.”
