Educators in SAU #19 can upload and embed videos directly into their Schoology Courses. Follow these instructions to upload and embed videos into your Schoology Courses:
Embedding Videos into the My Media Section on the left side bar of your Course
1. Log into Schoology and click into one of your Courses.
2. Click on the My Media button on the left side bar.
3. Click the Add New drop-down menu on the right-hand side.
If the Course you are in has linked Sections, you can select the Section you wish to upload a video for in the Section drop-down menu on the left-hand side.
4. Add a media file, YouTube video link, or record your own using Kaltura Capture by selecting the desired option from the drop-down menu.
Media Files:
Drag the file right into the box or use the options to attach the file and save.
YouTube Links:
Paste the link into the box, review the information that appears in the Preview, and then save.
Recording Videos Using Kaltura Capture
To record a video, you must first download the Kaltura Capture app from the Company Portal. The you can click on Kaltura Capture from the drop-down menu or open the app from your PC laptop. Once the video has been recorded, it will upload into My Media.
5. Now that your video is saved, click on the Materials button on the left side bar of your Course.
6. Click Add Materials and select Embed and Assign Kaltura Materials from the right-hand side of the drop-down menu.
7. Choose the video you wish to place into your Course and click Embed.
The video will now appear in your Course.
Please Note: When embedding a Kaltura video into Schoology, the full screen arrows do not work to make the video any larger; however, Schoology has built a feature you can select if you edit the embedded video.
Allow an Embedded Video to Open in a New Window and in Full Screen
1. After embedding a video into Schoology using the instructions above, click the gear icon and select Edit from the drop-down menu.
2. Click the arrow for the drop-down menu under Launch Options.
3. Select Open in new browser tab from the drop-down menu.
4. Click Save Changes.
5. Now when you click on the video in Schoology, it will open in a new window tab. It may still look small, but you can click the arrows in the lower right-hand corner to open it in Full Screen.
Embedding Kaltura Media in a Schoology Assignment
1. Click Add Materials and select Add Assignment.
2. Title the Assignment and add a Description.
3. In the tools menu, click the Insert Content icon and select Embed and Assign Kaltura Materials from the right-hand side of the menu.
4. Choose the video you wish to place into your Assignment and click Embed.
5. Fill out the rest of the Assignment settings and then click Create.
The video will now appear in your Assignment.
